Not All Pool Companies Are Created Equally
UPDATED: 12/ 28/11 – See bottom of article
Today I was speaking with someone who received a quote from another pool company for a fiberglass pool. They didn’t tell me which manufacturer it was, but what really surprised me was what he was quoted for the options: the heater, salt generator, a winter cover and pump. It was practically the wholesale cost.
I wondered how this installer afforded the labor and travel time to install this swimming pool for the potential client?
After thinking about this for awhile, it occurred to me that this isn’t apples to apples. Let me explain:
First, the shell. Cherry Hill provides the premium fiberglass pool. As I don’t know what manufacturer this potential client is working with, my guess is that it is an inferior brand. Also we factor all the equipment and installation costs into our pool price. When we present our pricing, it includes complete excavation and installation and all the equipment. After all, a pump is required to operate a swimming pool. I am still kind of curious as to why that option was a la carted, but to each his own.
That takes me to my second question with the other quote: Just what is included in that price? Is that company using flex-pipe (which is bad) or rigid PVC; if the pump is not included in the price, then is the filter? How much is that going to cost?
And what about the installation? What sort of equipment, what is their experience…
You see where I am going with this?
There are several fiberglass pool companies in New England and we all do things differently. My advice to the consumer is to really look into each quote for what is included and WHAT IS NOT! And remember, the least price, may prove extremely costly in the long run.
A couple came to our Pembroke location on Monday 12/26/11 after the fiberglass pool company (the one referred to in the article above) they contracted with went out of business, taking their money with them. Yesterday, we received a call from another family who are in the same situation with the now defunct pool company. While we are far from perfect, no other company tries as hard or is as committed to our clients as Cherry Hill. With over 600 installations and service clients to our credit, we have the facilities, the manpower and the COMMITMENT to excellence.
